Quotable Queen

With a growing number of sources on the internet, it seems these days, there are many instances of quotes that not only have been quoted a hundred times over, but are pulled out of context from which they were intended. I will attempt on this page to provide headings for context, and to keep all quotes from the actress in her roles, under a film character category, so we dont have everything lumped together and the quoter appearing quite stark raving mad. In All About Eve, Margot Channing (played by Davis) comes downstairs to find her lover who has been keeping her waiting, entertaining her ambitious young assistant. Irritated and suspicious, Margot makes her presence known with great sarcasm:

"Don't let me kill the point-- or isn't it a story for grown ups?"

"Oh you've heard it," her lover replies with exaggerated innocence, "about the time I looked into the wrong end of the camera."

Displeased and uninterested, Davis' character quips: "Remind me to tell you of the time I looked into the heart of an artichoke!"
